Hi guys! I’ve been reading healthy lifestyle blogs for about 3-4 years now, and finally decided it was time to join up. I’m looking forward to getting to know people in this amazing community! I suppose I should start by telling you a bit about myself.
My name is Sam (short for Samantha, but really, Sam). I’m 22 years old, graduated last year with a degree in Sociology/Sociology of Law Crime and Deviance from Brescia University College (of the University of Western Ontario). Starting this fall, I will be attending the Brantford campus at Wilfrid Laurier University to get my Master’s Degree in Criminology. Until a few weeks ago, I was working in a group home for adolescent mothers in London. So being newly unemployed for the next few months – what better time then to start my own blog?
I started reading healthy living blogs my second year of university. Caitlyn, Kristin, Tina and Kath were among the first ones thst I found and starting reading regularly. At the time, I was deeply ingrained in an eating disorder. These blogs slowly helped me recognize the possibility of recovery – if these healthy, fit women were eating cheese, nut butter, and sugary desserts when they felt so inclined and were healthy and happy, there was no reason why I couldn’t either. Of course, it took years (and a lot of therapy) to get myself to the point where I felt like I was in a happy place with food. Now, I feel like my relationship with my food is balanced. I eat a lot of good-for-me foods, with the occasional splurge – no guilty feelings allowed!
(Based of off this recipe – except I used Reese’s puffs instead of Cocoa puffs – adds some peanut-buttery deliciousness)
Well, that feels like a good start to me! As I continue writing this blog, I’ll get more into my daily eats, workouts, dessert and healthy recipes, stories, random life musings, Gordon Ramsay obsessions (please tell me I’m not the only one)…whatever comes to mind! Definitely looking forward to becoming a part of this lovely community. 🙂
