(how’s that for alliteration?)
Thoughts of the day:
1. I had grand plans of cleaning the entire apartment yesterday. That did not happen – I cleaned the bathroom sink and the stove, so that has to count for something, right?
2. I’ve been stealing a piece of two of candy corn almost every time I walk past the bowl. Yea, that is not going to last until Halloween.
It would be even better if I had these. Mmm, cookies.
3. I bought a pumpkin.
Within every intention of carving it next weekend – something I’ve never done before in my life. We’ll see how well that goes.
4. I made an awesome dinner last night.
New ingredient find:
Brown rice vermicelli! The grocery store near us has a good selection of international foods, a lot of which I’ve never seen before. Although it took me a good 2 minutes to find the directions in English, which was slightly nerve inducing.
Shrimp stirfry:
Shrimp, frozen stirfry veggies and my usual sauce, tossed with the vermicelli.
Easy, delicious dinner for a Sunday night.
5. Eric and I have been watching the HBO show Girls.
Umm, why did I not watch this show earlier?
This is flippin’ hilarious! The slightly awkward humour and interactions on this show are killing me. So good.
6. THE WALKING DEAD STARTED LAST NIGHT.
I have a massive obsession with this show (I’m kind of a nerd, remember?). I don’t have cable, so I’ll be catching up with it online this week, but yea. So excited.
I hope Daryl remains a badass.
7. I completed week 3 of Slim and Sculpt with Carrie of This Fit Chick!
This was the third week in phase 1, so no new workouts out yet. Although, she gives 4 options for the Sunday interval training, so I’m doing a different one each week. Yesterday I did a 23 minute speed workout that definitely left me huffing and puffing.
As for the weights, I went up on the bench press (definitely proud of myself for that one, I’ve been plateaued on there for a while), deadlifts, and seated rows. Keeping those strength gains coming!
Workouts skipped: none
Workouts changed: none. I followed the plan to a tee this week.
Workouts added: two yoga workouts.
Which is an appropriate lead in to…
Courtney’s October yoga challenge!
My personal challenge is to do two sessions a week, both of which got done. I did a 20 minute yogadownload.com flow on Thursday, and then I got in a 30 minute session yesterday. I’m going to talk more about Sunday’s session later on this week – it was an interesting experience!
Definitely a fantastic week of workouts – hopefully it’s the same story in the coming week.
Have a good Monday, everyone!
<— Have you ever carved a pumpkin before?
<— What’s your favourite veggie in a stirfry? I have a weird obsession with water chestnuts. The texture is just so awesome.

I need to get a pumpkin still.. I carve one every year 😀
October 15, 2012 at 12:58 pm
It’s definitely going to be interesting when I cut into that thing. :-p

I cleaned yesterday as well, isn’t that what Sundays are for? I feel that the bathroom and stove top are the most noticeable things so if you cleaned them – you’re golden!
I feel as though I’m missing out with the Walking Dead. Am I the ONLY person who has not caught this show before? #latetotheparty
I have carved tons of pumpkins, but this year I was thinking about painting one! Carving can get messy and I’m not too keen on the cleanup. Painting is always fun and will allow me to unleash my creativeness! 😉

My thoughts exactly – pretty much the only things in my apartment where it actually bugs me if it’s dirty.
And it’s so good! You should definitely catch up. 🙂

Hehe oh gosh the cleaning thing is so true. I always get it into my head that I’m going to make my place spotless, but then I do a few things, like sweep the floor and do some dusting, annnnnd I’m ready to move on to something else. But hey… ‘A’ for effort, right? 😉 And that’s so cool that you’ll be carving your first pumpkin! I used to carve pumpkins all the time when I was little, but it’s something I haven’t done for -years-. I’ll be buying a pumpkin soon, though, and I fully intend on carving it so we’ll see how much skill I lost over the years. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

Hehe we’ll have to compare pumpkins! I;m thinking yours is going to be prettier than mind, my artistic ability doesn’t go much beyond a stick figure. :-p

Cleaning the oven is ambitious! I’d do that and call it a day. 🙂
October 16, 2012 at 7:58 am
lol well cleaning it = cleaning the top of it. Good enough for me!
October 16, 2012 at 11:54 am
Can’t believe you’ve never carved a pumpkin! Its definitely my favorite thing to do this time of year, but I have to wait another week or else it will most likely rot too soon. That veggie stir-fry looks delicious and right up my alley. Not a huge fan of water chestnuts, but I love broccoli, carrots, peppers and onions. And I just looked up the sauce you use- definitely going to try it soon!
October 16, 2012 at 12:15 pm
I remember my dad carving one when I was little, but nope, never did it on my own!
I hope you like the sauce – simple and delicious. 🙂
October 16, 2012 at 8:57 pm
Uhh cleaning the oven is an impressive feat on its own, I would be dunzooo after that! The veggie stir fry looks fantastic Sam, I am always such a fan of them… quick and easy, but delicious and healthy too 🙂
October 16, 2012 at 11:04 pm
lol don’t be too impressed, I just wiped off the top. :-p
And can never go wrong with a good stirfry!
