So…I know a lot of people have an obsession with Sriracha. Or with Tabasco. Or they can’t handle the heat and eschew hot sauces all together. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some rooster sauce. But this is where my heart lies:
Yup – I am all about the Buffalo sauce. Seriously buffalo wings or a buffalo chicken sandwich? You can’t go wrong.
I realized I hadn’t had anything buffalo-flavoured in a while, so I threw this in the cart on an impulse last week. I had been thinking about making up some burgers for dinner, and when I opened the fridge to get the meat, my eye was immediately drawn to this bottle.
Yup – tastes like a wing, eats like a burger. Cannot go wrong with that. This makes 4-6 servings, depending on how big you want the burgers to be.
Enjoy!
Buffalo Wing Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground pork (can substitute for beef, chicken…I haven’t tried ground round, but it’d be worth a shot)
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 2 gloves garlic, chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons Frank’s Buffalo Wing Sauce (the boyfriend is not a spicy fan, so I kept the heat mild with this recipe. If you prefer a little more heat, add another tablespoon + another tablespoon bread crumbs)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
Directions
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. This is the fun part: roll up your sleeves and get your hands right in there.
2. Form meat mixture into 4-6 evenly sized patties. On a large skillet (or grill pan) cook over medium heat for approximately 6-8 minutes per side, or until done.
3. Add whatever toppings you like. I ate mine bunless with a slice of tomato, avocado slices, and more buffalo sauce.
I really wish I had some blue cheese dressing – that would have been absolutely perfect for this recipe. Ranch would be nice too!
Served with a side salad and a baked sweet potato with cinnamon. It made for a great dinner.
<— Do you like hot sauces and spicy food? My brother and I are both addicts. Whenever my dad makes homemade chicken wings, I’m in charge of making the spicy sauce – because I make sure it’s HOT.
<— What’s your favourite kind of burger – beef, turkey, veggie, other? I tried an elk burger at Works Burger a while back, and it was actually pretty good!

I’m with you.. buffalo sauce is the best! I’m definitely going to be trying these. Not sure if I’ll do chicken or turkey burgers though.
January 17, 2013 at 7:37 am
Let me know if you try them!
January 17, 2013 at 7:32 am
This sounds like such a good idea! Burgers are one of my favorites, but I don’t really ever cook them for some reason. This needs to be fixed!
January 17, 2013 at 7:37 am
I didn’t really start making them until a year or so ago, I’m glad I got into the habit! Really, so easy.

Spicy sauces have grown on me a lot in recent years! I used to hate them but now I’m turning into a big fan! These burgers look awesome, and I think they’d be a good challenge for me…I love burgers (turkey and beef are my fav) but pork is still tougher for me at times…the way you served yours, however, looks amazing so I think I’ll give it a try…yet one more recipe of yours I’m making 🙂

Let me know how you like it!
January 17, 2013 at 8:33 am
I’ve made these before- so good! I dump a Tom of Wong sauce in there. The burgers are good with some grated carrot or celery as well
January 17, 2013 at 6:40 pm
I love that idea! Next time I make them, I’ll have to try that.
January 17, 2013 at 9:11 am
I love hot sauce with popcorn! & being that I am from Buffalo (home of the chicken wing!) I love Buffalo sauce, chicken, wings whatever.
I would love to try this recipe in the future.
January 17, 2013 at 6:41 pm
:-O I’ve never thought to try hot sauce and popcorn…that is brilliant. Must try!
January 17, 2013 at 9:50 am
I don’t like hot sauce or anything like that but I drown everything I eat in ketchup. I’m a big fan of 96% lean beef burgers but if it’s not, then I eat grilled chicken burgers instead.
January 17, 2013 at 6:41 pm
While I do love my hot sauce, I do have a ketchup love as well. :-p
January 17, 2013 at 10:10 am
I love buffalo sauce! I have never tried making buffalo burgers but they sound great! Grilled chicken with buffalo sauce and blue cheese on a salad is one of my favorite ways to eat it.
January 17, 2013 at 10:38 am
YUM! I have been craving a good burger for a while- definitely going to put an end to it this weekend :)! Since trying beef last month, it’s taken my burger experience to whole new level…SO satisfying and definitely my favorite kind!
January 17, 2013 at 7:36 pm
I didn’t eat beef burgers for years, I’m definitely liking having them in my life again!
January 17, 2013 at 11:14 am
I’m one of those wimps that can’t handle the heat. I love spicy food for about the first 2 seconds that I’m eating it, but after that my tongue goes numb and I can no longer taste what I’m eating 😆 That and my stomach just does NOT take nicely to spice. Ketchup, on the other hand, is where my heart lies ❤
January 17, 2013 at 7:36 pm
Hehe cannot go wrong with ketchup!
January 17, 2013 at 11:35 am
i made turkey meatballs last night and recently was sent some gluten free hot sauce. HEAVEN like freaking heaven.
January 17, 2013 at 7:37 pm
Sounds so good!
January 17, 2013 at 11:43 am
I love allll hot sauce, but buffalo sauce definitely holds a place in my heart. I have been all about my buffalo chicken meatballs lately! I made a wrap yesterday with a WW tortilla, melted blue cheese, and the buffalo meatballs that was amazing.
January 17, 2013 at 7:37 pm
I don’t even like blue cheese (as a dressing it works, but not a fan of the cheese itself) and that sounds amazing! Definitely going to have to give that a shot.

I love all your recent cooking experiments Sam – can I come live near you and be your professional taster?!
January 17, 2013 at 7:38 pm
Absolutely! :-p

Buffalo sauce, particularly Franks, is the BEST. I used to hate spicy food but once I joined the Army I quickly realized the only way I could eat some of the food is by having it swimming in FRANKS. It goes on everything savory in my house 🙂
January 17, 2013 at 7:38 pm
So I guess the rumours about food in the army is true? :-p

Buffalo sauce has slowly been growing on me since my palate has been expanding and tolerating spicy stuff a bit better as I keep trying new foods! I LOOOOVE buffalo burgers so this looks great. Once I had a Gorgonzola infused buffalo chicken burger, oh baby.
January 17, 2013 at 7:39 pm
Oh my god, that sounds amazing!
January 17, 2013 at 6:45 pm
I can’t really handle spicy foods (except for wasabi… there are almost no limits to how much of that stuff I can eat!), but I love buffalo sauce too! These burgers look amazing.
I love elk burgers, but my favourite burgers are my dad’s beef ones. They are the best!
January 17, 2013 at 7:39 pm
Hehe wasabi is an absolute necessity!
January 17, 2013 at 7:19 pm
Yuuuummmm! I have never tried buffalo sauce, but I am a total spicy food junkie so it would be right up my alley. Even in India I used to dump hot sauce on everything, My taste buds are messed…
January 17, 2013 at 7:40 pm
wow – that must have been intense! Indian food is the only cuisine where I go for medium instead of hot.
January 17, 2013 at 7:33 pm
This is screaming for some bleu cheese!
January 17, 2013 at 7:40 pm
My thoughts exactly!
January 17, 2013 at 11:28 pm
Give it to me HOT HOT HOT!! I love hot spicy food. My favorite burger is a good old bean burger!! Oh bleu cheese, yum.
January 18, 2013 at 7:41 am
Oh, I haven’t had one of those in ages! Might have to make some up soon :-p
January 18, 2013 at 1:07 am
Shut the door! I didn’t know Frank’s made Buffalo hot sauce! Eeee! Now that this recipe is saved, I have a good excuse to buy myself a jar. 🙂 Seriously, these look SO good.
I like my food spicy, but not “call the fire department” hot. I once bit into a thai chile, and that was just a leeeetle too much for me to handle. 😉
Favorite burger: this is a tough one! I’m going to go with a classic cheeseburger topped off with avocado, bacon and ranch dressing, however I truly love them all.
January 18, 2013 at 7:42 am
Oh goodness, now you have me wanting a cheeseburger before 8 in the morning :-p
