Good morning! I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s yesterday, whatever you did! Mine was pretty tame, but I did get a nice surprise delivered:
You guys over at Mott’s, you’re too nice
I have one class today, and then I am officially on READING WEEK! I’m pretty sure if you listen carefully, you can hear the collective sigh of students everywhere.
So while I’m enjoying the beginning of my week of freedom, here’s my Friday list for you:
5 Awesome Things I’ve Eaten Lately:
1. Simply Protein Chips (chili flavour) dipped in Skotidakis Jalapeno Greek yogurt dip.
Deliciousness.
2. Ice cream.
With sprinkles, of course. Gotta live up to that blog name
3. Banana pancakes and bacon dinner.
This was on Wednesday, so I guess we were a little behind on the pancake Tuesday thing. And I had some maple syrup on the side for dipping – including the bacon.
4. Smoked salmon with spinach cream cheese on a whole wheat English muffin with a side of roasted red pepper and tomato soup.
The soup was missing something (and side note – clearly exploded in the microwave a little bit) so I added dried basil and cracked black pepper. This also served as a reminder why I don’t buy smoked salmon often – $7 and I got two small portions out of it.
5. Sick-boyfriend Valentine’s dinner of chicken breast and mashed sweet potatoes.
Eric’s still on the mend from the flu, so instead of our planned lobster meal I made chicken and mashed sweet potatoes. Hopefully, he’ll be feeling recovered enough that I can break out the lobster tonight.
5 of My All-Time Favourite Books:
1. Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte
Now that is one hell of a love story.
2. Pet Semetary – Stephen King.
I’m a huge King fan and I’ve read the majority of his books. But this is the one that I keep going back to – freaks me out, but I love it.
3. Game of Thrones – George R. R. Martin.
So, if you’ve held a conversation with me that lasted more than 10 minutes, you probably already know that I adore this series, both the books and the TV show. I’ve read them all (there’s a fifth, but I borrowed it from someone) but the first one is still my favourite.
4. Angels and Demons – Dan Brown.
The movie, not so much.
5. Intuitive Eating – Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch.
This book was seriously vital in teaching me how to listen to my body signals and just eat what my body wanted me to eat. Whenever I feel like I’m losing that connection, I read it again. Apparently, they’ve released a new edition – thinking I’ll have to find a copy!
5 Better With Sprinkles Search Terms:
Because really, it just makes me laugh.
1. ninja saw teeth.
sounds dangerous.
2.I am queen of cupcakes.
I will be challenging your title.
3. hummus good for hair.
Well, it has olive oil in it so…maybe? it might not smell the greatest afterwards, though.
4. toned girl lifting a barbell.
Why, thank you.
5. cheese crackers cure for headaches.
Let me know if that works for you?
5 Best Ice Cream Flavours (in my humble opinion)
1. Chocolate chip cookie dough. Really, who doesn’t have this as one of their favourites?
2. Reese’s. My love of peanut butter and chocolate extends to ice cream.
3. Moose tracks. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate peanut butter cups and fudge swirls. Cannot go wrong with that!
4. President’s Choice Candy Cane. I’ve been trying to ration it, but I only have about one serving left. Sadness.
5. Bubblegum.

That right there is essentially childhood on a cone.
Enjoy your Friday!

COOKIES AND CREAMMMMMMMMMMMM! I love all the ones you mentioned though, too…minus the bubble gum…I like to chew it for sure but not find it in my ice cream 😉 And I can’t pick a favorite book! That’d be like picking a favorite child! Harry Potter, Game of Thrones (totally agree with you about one being my fav…I like how the starks are a family in that one), hunger games, pride and prejudice are a few of my favs but not nearly all of them 🙂
February 15, 2013 at 8:46 am
Hunger Games and Harry Potter are definitely favourites for me too!
And I would not turn up my nose at cookies and cream :-p
February 15, 2013 at 8:06 am
We are totally on the same wavelength. Queen of cupcakes is so fitting. And chocolate chip cookie dough is arguably the best flavor of ice cream. Especially when it’s cookie dough flavored AND there are really big chunks of it. And obviously because of that mini rant, ice cream is the best food you’ve eaten all week, hands down. Okay that’s enough about food, have a lovely weekend 🙂
February 15, 2013 at 8:47 am
haha I would absolutely agree with everything you said about the ice cream :-p
You have a good one too Sarah!
February 15, 2013 at 8:08 am
We have Graeters in Northern Ky and Cincy and their black raspberry choc chip is my favorite!! Ive been meaning to buy those protein chips, Ive seen them online, do they have them in stores, maybe tj’s or whole foods?
February 15, 2013 at 8:48 am
I got them sent to me so I’m not sure. Whole Foods would probably be a good place to look!
February 15, 2013 at 8:51 am
hmm, I need to check it out!
February 15, 2013 at 8:46 am
Errrr how have I never tried Moose Tracks?? It sounds unreal! My all-time favorite will always be choc chip cookie dough but I am equally content with a bowl of vanilla bean! Have you tried the new Ben & Jerry’s flavor “Late Night Snack?” Apparently it involves vanilla bean ice cream with a salty caramel swirl and fudge-covered potato chip clusters (full description courtesy of Google)? I haven’t yet but my love for the sweet & salty combo has me intrigued! Hope your boy is feeling better…have a great weekend, especially with the lobster dinner & all-you-can-eat sushi y’all have lined up :)!
February 15, 2013 at 8:51 am
It’ll be a good weekend of eats, that’s for sure!
And I don’t see it in the stores too often, it may be a Canadian thing? it is awesome though.
And….I will be looking for that Ben and Jerrys. Sweet and salty gets me every time.
Have an awesome weekend Khushboo!

Moose Tracks! I totally forgot about that flavor, it’s insanely good! There used to be a place by our house when I was growing up that had phenomenal peppermint ice cream & as far as I’m concerned, nobody can replicate it 😦 One of my fav books of all time is “My Friend Leonard”, intense read but a good one! Happy Friday Sam!
February 15, 2013 at 12:56 pm
peppermint ice cream is seriously amazing.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that book, I may have to look into it! Hope your weekend is fabulous 😀
February 15, 2013 at 10:55 am
Favorite book?! Gah! Where do I even start!! Wuthering Heights is an amazing one for sure, and you know I love me some GoT… but I do have to say that The Name of the Wind is quickly proving to trump GoT for me. Other favorites? The Alchemist. The Hobbit. Life of Pi. The Art of Racing in the Rain. Don Quixote. My Name is Asher Lev. Ooooof. Just way too many good ones to remember.
Happy Friday, Sam!!
February 15, 2013 at 12:57 pm
I think i’m going to hit up the library today and see if I can find The Name of the Wind.
Is it terrible that I’ve never read Life of Pi? That should go on my list of books I must be reading.
Hope your weekend is wonderful ❤

February 15, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Any book by Jodi Picoult is great. Btw Reese’s is def the best ice cream !
February 15, 2013 at 12:59 pm
I’ve only read a couple of hers, she is a great writer though!
February 15, 2013 at 12:18 pm
Jalepeno greek yogurt, thats one I havent seen! My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell’s pistachio YUM! And I love the books water for elephants, the art of racing in the rain and the notebook 🙂 Hope your boy is feeling better today!
February 15, 2013 at 12:59 pm
I don’t think I’ve ever had pistachio ice cream, I’ll definitely have to try it at some point!
February 15, 2013 at 12:49 pm
Don’t hate me, but I really didn’t like Wuthering Heights – I didn’t like a single one of the characters! My favourite books are Harry Potter, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe, and the Catcher in the Rye!
And you already know what my favourite ice cream flavour is. 😉
February 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm
I won’t hate – it’s not for everyone! The characters are definitely intense.
And I believe your favourite ice cream is listed :-p
February 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm
Mint chocolate chip my fave!!!! I do love cookies and cream as well 🙂
I want to try those simply chips, look awesome! Have a great weekend love!
February 15, 2013 at 4:31 pm
Both are excellent choices. :-p
Hope you have a fabulous weekend too Katie!
February 15, 2013 at 4:28 pm
There was so much I wanted to comment on as I was reading! Let’s see what I can remember…1. I also dip bacon in syrup it’s delicious. 2. Game of Thrones!! I’m still on book 1 (and watching it on HBO) and am obsessed. 3. All of your food looks so good and lobster in your future? All-star status!
February 15, 2013 at 4:32 pm
it’s the salty/sweet thing, it’s amazing.
And yay reading the books! Seriously amazing stuff.
February 15, 2013 at 5:16 pm
Those protein chips and yogurt dip sound amazing! Where do you buy them at?
February 15, 2013 at 5:42 pm
the chips were sent to me, so I’m not sure about those! And I found the dip at Costco, but I don’t know if it’s available in the states.
February 15, 2013 at 5:47 pm
Pet Semetary – Stephen King –> we watched that movie when we were kids, so scary. Love Stephen King, a classic favorite of ours is “IT” – totally scared of clowns because of it haha
February 15, 2013 at 6:11 pm
I read IT when I was about 12 – I refused to watch the movie afterwards!
February 15, 2013 at 7:48 pm
Mmmm banana pancakes 🙂
February 15, 2013 at 10:45 pm
cannot go wrong with them 🙂
February 17, 2013 at 2:12 am
Haha this post made me giggle 😛 Tasty eats and good reads! Mmm, fave ice cream would be any of the cookie varieties and then vanilla then strawberry 🙂 I cannot remember the last book that I’ve read [embarrassingly admit] – I blame it on college and “taking a break”… I’ve read a few, but not many!
February 17, 2013 at 8:26 am
That’s understandable, with how many books I’ve had to read in school it’s sometimes hard to find the time (or the desire) to do more reading on top of that!
